Hailer is a band of three men from Sydney, Australia who stumbled upon each other through their love for music and the ethos that they share. We are writing this in the first person because we are people first, and publicists sparingly. 3. OSCAR
It all starts with a melody....
When you listen to the debut album from Sydney band Oscar, the first thing you notice, indeed the very thing that sets them apart from countless other local three piece rock bands, is melody. Sometimes they are fast and jagged, other times slow and gorgeous, but they are all so catchy they will stay with you long after the music stops.
Another Life – Another Day” is the sound of a band finding it’s own sound and setting out on a promising career. www.myspace.com/spaceoscar

5. ZENITH
One of the hottest bands to surface from the arid land of Alice Springs, are three-piece acoustic hard rock band, Zenith ASP. Telling the tales of growing up in remote Central Australia, in a small town at the forefront of so many political, social and environmental controversies.
Front man and lead guitarist Jayden McGrath delivers with a ripe sound, intricate heavy licks and a captivating presence. On bass, Evan Berard turns it up with his ability to entertain not only with his fat chunky bass lines but his love of swinging, flipping and absolutely shredding his bass, leaving you no choice but to get your rock fingers out and scream till your lungs give out. Joey Klarenbeek throws down on the drums with impeccable timing and abstruse fills, clutching any audience with the hands of the boogie beast. www.myspace.com/zzenith |

7. HOUSE OF KINGS
House of Kings began as a 3-piece alternative rock group in Sydney, Australia in 2003, when acoustic soul singer Lyall Adonis put his solo career on hold to begin writing with close friends Pete and Roo Pengly. With Lyall leading the band on acoustic guitar, Pete on piano and his younger brother Roo on bass, the guys began writing raw, emotional and moving ballads that hit on their own personal experiences growing up as young men in the suburbs of Sydney. When writing their songs, various inspirations were drawn upon (The Frames, U2, and Coldplay), but it was each individual member’s passion for different music genres that made the band’s sound unique.

8. STELLA'S KITCHEN
We formed Stellas Kitchen when the four of us got together in mid 2007 to jam some of Daniel's original material. We've all lived in Perth all our lives and played in many other bands growing up, but never all together. Songs developed quickly and we were soon playing the local Perth original music circuit. In 2007 and 2008 we've tried to perform as much as possible and we've worked hard getting our music out there. www.stellaskitchen.com.au |

9. CHECKERED FIST
Checkered Fist Are an Australian Psychobilly trio who formed in 2007. 10. MR BEN
The seeds of mrben were sown in January 2005. Sydney artist Ben Wever was seeking creative musicians that would compliment his unique style of music and songwriting. Having played in three different bands over ten years, encompassing traditional riff-based rock progressions, acoustic ballads and blues, he was ready to embark on something fresh, new and exciting.
He soon found his musical soulmates. Leighton Holloway (bass) has many
years of performing in bands that crossed styles of funk, jazz and
rock. He, too, was looking for a new challenge that he could grow with.
His ability to think outside the square and offer such diverse creative
input has proven to be a valuable contribution to the mrben trio. www.mrben.com.au

11. THE GRONKS
Having entered rock n roll with more than a passing glance to heroes like Velvet Underground and the Beatles, the Gronks: 'present a compelling vision of 60's pop - meets post-modern big muff' (NME). But more than vintage guitar pedals made of disposed Russian tank parts, more than recording to 2" tape, even more than a multitude of "duel-fuel" sessions with obscure keyboards, tasty expensive American guitars, wall of sound recording and stacks of energy. We bring to you an uncomplicated celebration of rock 'n' roll music. We hope you like it. www.myspace.com/thegronks

12. SHOE
In 2004 a really terrible 4- piece punk band was formed under the name Decapitation Nation. Jake Mcgovern, Jason "Budge" Wood, Justin Dyer and Bart performed under this name for just under a year. Justin left/got kicked out and a new band was reformed by the remaining three.
The band was called Better Than Steve and was a slightly better punk rock grunge trio who performed their original "songs" quite consistently around the north west coast and at many the house party. The band's sound faded away from the punk and began to mould into the rock/pop/funky-surfy-rock that it is today. In 2006 the band hit troubled waters, resulting in a split with bassist Budge.
Remaining members Jake and Bart continued on to form the rock band Follow by the Wayside with friend and excellent bassist Isaac Snare. They began gigging both in Devonport and Launceston, also recording their first serious album "Car Door Man." They focused on an energetic live performance and developing their original sound. Late 2007, once again, the band had a run in with the old troubled waters. Isaac turned out to be clinicaly insane and remains so to this day. www.myspace.com/shinemyshoesbrother

14. DANIEL DAWES
Daniel Dawes performed in various bands throughout the later part of the 1990’s while at university, and in 2001 became a founding member of Sydney based psych-rock outfit The Winters, a band for whom he put in almost seven years of loyal service as songwriter, vocalist and guitarist. Dawes’ strong vision for his music led him to branch out from the safety of The Winters and in late 2006 and early 2007 he tested the water with a string of solo shows, a move that led to the assembly of a band comprising likeminded members of various Sydney groups and the recording of a debut album “Strange Things”, due for release in February 2009. www.myspace.com/danieldawes
