Fog Blog

Welcome to the Fog Blog #25

The revolution is over...

Everyone is entitled to my opinion...

We are in a rut…

Post Melbourne Cup, yet pre ARIA Awards… we haven’t been here before, the awards are usually before the cup.

I wonder how badly Channel 9 will stuff up this years awards broadcast. Oh how we laughed the last time they did it… we were all so embarrassed we went to the pub across the road whilst the awards were still on.

The market feels kind of flat, like everyone is waiting for everyone else to move first. All the usual greatest hits albums have been released as well as the other big new albums (Robbie, Buble, Jacko, Jovi…) and yet there seems to be very little real excitement in the air.

Maybe Britney sucked all the life out of the market… you can bet that’s not the first time those two words have been used consecutively in a sentence this week.

Spotify: RIP

It was the briefest of affairs…

We only met a couple of weeks ago. The excitement of our first meeting still lingers. It was definitely love at first browse.

Unfortunately, my Spotify account has been closed. It seems that they realised I wasn’t in France after all and now I can no longer log on and find all that great 80’s hair metal that I love (and the rest of the office hates…)

Farewell Spotify (or “Au revoir” as the girl in the ads would have said…) I hope we meet again soon…

Australian Idol: Celebrating Mediocrity Since 2003

Only one more week to go… thank goodness.

This week poor old James was put out of his misery. Now he can go and get some real work in a theatre restaurant or something…

Hayley Warner

Hayley did pretty well this week. She only really annoyed me once, I think. Admittedly all the really good songs were made available to her… Sneaky Sound System, Rhianna, plus her new single and she did a pretty good job with all of them. Her stage moves (or lack of them) only serve to illustrate the huge divide of talent that she would need to cross to beat Stan… which she won’t do.

Stan Walker

Stan probably could have walked out on stage and stood there for 20 minutes and he’d STILL get enough votes to win. His single Black Box is insanely catchy but his version of Superstar was actually pretty cool. Who would have guessed?

The only thing to do now is to follow this guy on Twitter. Hilarious.

Live In The Studio… not a contradiction in terms…

We are half way through our first Live In The Studio series at Damien Gerard’s.

First up was classical guitarist Alex Chudnovsky and last night was Nick and Liesl fresh from their most recent European tour. If you missed last weeks’ blog, Live In The Studio is a new initiative from Foghorn to help generate new content for iTunes and YouTube for our acts.

I will post some of the tracks for you to hear next week.

Kindle Update

Check out this line up of new e-readers.

If you don’t know what they are, they are going to do to the book industry what the iPod did for music.

Is that a good or a bad thing? I don’t know… what do you think?

What Would Dave Do?

He’d buy stock in the Kindle that’s for sure… and laugh out really loud!
